TRACTOR TOM GOES FRENCH IN 2005 - April 2004

Contender Entertainment Group (CEG) today announces that its animated children’s classic, Tractor Tom has been purchased by leading French terrestrial channel, France 5.

The 52 x 10 minute episodes of series one are scheduled for broadcast on France 5 in 2005. The French channel has also confirmed plans to use Tractor Tom as a key mascot to support the France 5 channel branding, providing greater exposure for the programme’s characters.

This recent deal comes after Tractor Tom attracted a flurry of interest from international broadcasters towards the end of 2003. This resulted in deals with CBC (Canada), RTE (Ireland), TV3 (New Zealand), TV2 (Denmark & Norway), MTV3 (Finland), Nickelodeon (Pan Scandinavia) and C4U (Korea).

In Canada, Tractor Tom is already showing on CBC and to date has achieved the number two position in ranking for pre-school programmes. RTE (Ireland) began showing Tractor Tom at the beginning of the year and reported that viewing figures had tripled within the first three weeks.

TV3 (New Zealand) and MTV3 (Finland) will begin airing Tractor Tom from April this year while in Scandinavia, TV2 (Denmark) and TV2 (Norway) started showing the series in January 2004.

Narrated by Liza Tarbuck (Farmer Fi) and James Nesbitt (Matt the farmhand), Tractor Tom is an engaging 3D CGI animated series for children aged 2-5. It follows the adventures of a bright red tractor called Tom as he helps his farmyard friends that live on Springhill Farm.

CEG Managing Director Richard Bridgwood commented:
“ The growing international popularity of Tractor Tom shows that broadcasters across the globe have recognised the widespread strength of the programme’s appeal. With sustained support we aim to build on the early success our leading pre-school brand is enjoying.”

CONTENDER ENTERTAINMENT GROUP ANNOUNCES
TRACTOR TOM™ LINK WITH
GREAT ORMOND STREET HOSPITAL CHILDREN’S CHARITY

Contender Entertainment Group is delighted to announce that they have just signed a deal to contribute 5p from every Tractor Tom™ video, DVD and book sold to Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity (GOSHCC). They will also contribute 5p from the range of toys being produced by Vivid Imaginations later this year to the renowned children’s hospital. Licenses have also been sold to toy manufacturers Racing Champions and Falcon Games.

Tractor Tom™, the star of CEG’s first state-of-the-art CGI TV series for pre-schoolers, is due to air on CiTV from Sunday 9 February at 10.35am. The first Tractor Tom™ video and DVD will be released by CEG on 10 March and Contender Books will be publishing the first Tractor Tom™ books on 6 March. Comics will be launched in September by Panini.

Contender Entertainment Group will be holding a launch for Tractor Tom™ at the hospital in the near future.

Both Great Ormond Street Hospital and CEG are delighted with the deal. Richard Bridgwood, Managing Director of CEG, said: ’We’re thrilled that Tractor Tom™ products will contribute to GOSH. Tractor Tom’s™ tag line “What would we do without you?” is totally fitting for the hospital which contributes so much to children’s health in this country and worldwide’.

Dona Selby, Executive Director of GOSHCC said, “Great Ormond Street Hospital has a long association with popular children’s characters, starting with Peter Pan almost 100 years ago, and we are delighted to have made this link with Tractor Tom™, who we are sure will be a hit! The money raised will help the hospital to continue to provide world-class specialist paediatric care.”

Confident that they have a sure-fire success on their hands to challenge the reign of Bob the Builder, CEG will be putting a huge £1m advertising, marketing and PR spend behind the Tractor Tom™ TV series and associated products this year, starting with the spring launch of the property. They are positive that Sundays will be known as Tractor Tom™ day from 9 February onwards!

CEG’s research has revealed that a higher proportion of parents watch this Sunday slot on CiTV together with their children compared with a weekday CiTV slot when many children will be watching on their own. Good news for Tractor Tom™ licensees!
